We have long admired McMinnville bookseller Sylla McClellan’s taste in shoes, always striking a fine and seasonal-appropriate balance between comfort and style. We’re happy to report that the Third Street proprietress has opened a new boutique that specializes in just that balance of practical and pretty. Half a block from her bookstore, Yamhill Valley Dry Goods sells mostly shoes, but also carries clothes, some jewelry and what McClellan calls “miscelleanea,” which, we’re pretty sure means baubles, trinkets and other cool, handmade stuff she found on Etsy.
McClellan reports that she’s getting a lot of exercise running between her two stores, and we bet she has just the right shoes for that. We asked her to handsell us a perfect pair for bookselling, and she chose new Dansko Professionals in hunter green and Clark’s Desert Boots in grey or taupe (pictured). We see some fun opportunities for literary themed shoe recs here!
Yamhill Valley Dry Goods will hold its grand opening celebration this Friday (September 16) from 5-7 pm. They’ll offer live music, giveaways and a special discount on purchases made that evening. Swing by and let Sylla recommend your fall footwear and your fall reading.
