At NWBL, our kids are either too old or too young to have drawn us into JK Rowling’s world. And, while nowadays it’s customary for adult readers to read the stories of Harry, Bella or Katniss, a decade ago, when several of us were working in bookstores, it just wasn’t the case. Some of us have come around by way of the DVD and our comfy living rooms in recent years and now have our own version of the Harry Potter experience (and, uh-hum, even Twilight), but, to be honest, it’s not likely we’ll jump into the books when our kids start to reach the age, which is soon. Thankfully, Naseem Rakha, 2010 Pacific Northwest Book Award winner for The Crying Tree, has bridged this gap in a very practical way that we, too, can probably pull off. We hope our experiences will be as sweet and memorable as hers. Here she is for Shelf Awareness with “My Year with Harry Potter: Audiobook Magic.”
