One Nightstand

Popular Crime by Bill James

I’m supposed to be reading Denis Duval, Barry Lyndon, and The Yellowplush Papers, looking for stuff to read aloud come July 18th, the 200th Birthday of William Makepeace Thackeray. Then baseball’s Bill James comes out with one of the weirdest, most unlikely, and completely fascinating true crime book, Popular Crime. Brilliant statistician analyzes a somewhat disreputable genre I also happen to read. Unexpected pleasure.
