Congrats to Susan Vreeland on her latest novel about another bold woman. Clara and Mr. Tiffany, a fictionalized account of the woman behind the design of the famous Tiffany lamps, is currently hanging out on the Pacific Northwest Independent Bestseller List. After Vreeland spoke at Elliott Bay Book Company last week, the blogger I Claudio posted this effusive account of the event. Whoever I Claudio is, he or she is right on in calling part of Vreeland’s presentation “hypnotic.” We found the same thing listening to her talk on this episode of Beauty and the Book.
Vreeland lives in San Diego but says she has sensibilities that extend to the Northwest. The Forest Lover, her novel about the British Columbia painter Emily Carr, has been selected by the Port Townsend Public Library for its One Book, One Community Read. She will speak there March 24.
