Wingshooters is a small book with amazing power. It’s the story of a 9 year-old girl who is half Japanese, living with her grandparents in 1974 Wisconsin. Until a black couple moves in, she’s the only non-white person in the town. It’s hard to remember just how pervasive racism was in those days. It will remind you of To Kill a Mockingbird and you won’t be disappointed.
