The Curse of the Wendigo by Rick Yancey

First was The Monstrumologist (which bowled me over and kept me awake at night) and now there’s The Curse of the Wendigo. This young adult novel evokes the spirits of Poe and Lovecraft and introduces the rich tradition of gothic horror to a new generation. In this latest novel in the series, the monstrumologist (a doctor of monsters, a genius who is a social miscreant with the soul of poet) and his young apprentice (the narrator of these stories who both hates and devotedly loves his master) search for the mythical wendigo of Native American legend whilst confronting their own demons. Their adventure ranges from the wilds of Canada to the slums of 19th century New York City. I love these books and will follow this series wherever it goes.
