Our favorite regional bookseller curmudgeon, who blogs as UsedBuyer2.0 and works daily at the University Bookstore in Seattle, has decided that what the independent bookstores need are their own t-shirts to bring back that huge wave of sales we all would like to see. For the last few days he has been posting his suggestions for shirts that might do the trick, with an emphasis on the “trick,” apparently. Mostly, of course, they are ridiculous, but several fall dangerously close to being possibilities. Oh, the humanity!! HERE is his latest post, in which he aims for the National Market. For the earlier posts start on his front page.

I’m thinking — if I can get a really good deal — of setting up a booth at PNBA. We could make a killing. (There’s a T-shirt in it for everyone on the board, if negotiations go well — and the guy with sweatshops comes through on-time.)
