Portland’s own little red caboose, used as the children’s section of the Looking Glass Bookstore, was one of several featured stores in an article on WebEcoist, showing some of the most interesting conversions of old buildings converted to bookstores. Some of the featured spaces are truly magnificent, like a church in the Netherlands, and an incredible old theater in Argentina. Which is not to sneeze at the caboose used by Looking Glass—it is still mighty fun.
According to its Web site, WebEcoist is “a global source for sensational, educational and inspirational green design and sustainable technology as well as environmental science and natural wonders.”
