Whoa, Nellie, we’ve not yet eaten all of the candy from our children’s Halloween bags, and the Best of 2010 lists are arriving with all their tidy glory. If you care about such things—and, really, who doesn’t love to peruse a nice, easy list while eating lunch at her desk, largehearted boy keeps an aggregate of the Best of 2010 Book Lists on his site. It’s alphabetized, so go ahead and skip the A’s and some of the B’s. Mary Ann Gwinn at the Seattle Times analyzed some of the early Best of’s, and noted titles shared by lists from Library Journal, Publishers Weekly and that .com big box—among them one-time Oregonian Rebecca Skloot’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (Here we talk with Rebecca’s daddy, the poet Floyd Skloot, about his more famous daughter). Look for a short list of Northwest books from indie booksellers soon. Ours will be a little different than Oprah’s, we promise.
