Bellingham, WA author Laura Kalpakian did a very nice, short interview with Village Books about the writer as reader and what book clubs mean to authors. Kalpakian is a favorite of many Northwest booksellers, who have honored her with two book Awards, one in 1990 for Dark Continent and Other Stories, and the second in 1993 for Graced Land.
Personally, my favorite of hers was American Cookery from 2006.
