Freak music legend Danbert Nobacon has penned an anarchist fairy tale and is hitting the indie book circuit. Nobacon, who now lives in Twisp, WA, was a founding member of the anarchist punk rock band Chumbawamba (Remember Tubthumping?!). His book, 3 Dead Princes, is about a princess called Stormy who lives in a semi-detached castle with her family and a fool. After a neighboring kingdom decides to invade, Stormy must go on a quest, whereupon she accidentally kills three princes. Though Publishers Weekly gave the book a lukewarm review, Nobacon’s author events should be anything but. He was notorious for stripping naked during his early solo performances, and, in later years, often wore a nun’s habit during performances. He gained notoriety by tipping an ice bucket over UK Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott at the 1998 BRIT Award. He will read this Saturday at Trail’s End in Wintrhop, Nov. 12 at Third Place—Ravenna in Seattle and Nov. 14 at Village Books in Bellingham.
