Len Vlahos, the Chief Operating Officer of the American Booksellers Association, the national association of independent bookstores in the United States, traveled to New Zealand and Australia last month, to talk about the effects of digitization on the book world, otherwise known as eBooks. Apparently, New Zealand and Australia are about 18 months behind the US on their acceptance of eBooks. Len went “down” to tell them about what’s coming. He’s a funny guy. His article about the trip is great. He also provides a link to videos of his presentation, which is fabulous. Highly recommended. Not at the office maybe, because it’s long; but highly recommended to anyone interested in where we are going with digitization.
