The owner of the lovely Third Street Books in McMinnville, Oregon, posted a very nice essay on the store blog last week, asking if, as eBooks become more prevalent, printed books will decrease in numbers and therefore increase in cost and value? Its a perceptive analysis and worth consideration. Most of us who love real books sincerely believe that there will always be a need for independent bookstores. But will only the wealthy be able to afford real books? Will our freedom of book choice be limited by our income, even more than it is now? These are the thoughts that generate dystopian literature.
