OregonLive.com reports that two birthday parties and a film screening will be held next week to benefit Walt Curtis, the Portland painter and artist who lost his home and much of his work in the fire that devastated the Great Northwest Bookstore last month. Curis’ life and his novella, Mala Noche, have inspired a Gus Van Sant film of the same name. Mala Noche will be screened July 6 at Cinema 21 in Portland.
