Is your book group looking for inspiration? Need new books that will be great for discussion? You probably already know to go to your local, independent bookstore because the staff will help you find titles to fit your club’s goals and taste. But Seattle-area Random House sales reps Katie Mehan (an Indie Bookstore Champion) and David Glenn are partnering with stores to offer evenings of recommendations (and prizes).
Last week, Queen Anne Book Company hosted a standing-room-only event with over 75 attendees. This week, Island Books has its turn. (Click here for details about the Island Books event on Tuesday, September 13 at 7:00.)
Whether you’ve been a part of a book group for years (like author Anne Hood), you’ve just started one (like Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett), or you’re contemplating starting one, remember that your local independent bookstore would love to be a resource for you. In addition to providing recommendations, many stores (like Queen Anne Book Company) also maintain displays for local book clubs and/or give them discounts on their discussion titles.
