As of Sunday August 2, 2026, we found the following information about the Spokane fires:

Several evacuation shelters are open in and around Spokane for people displaced by this weekend’s fires.

For those affected by the Old Trails fire, a shelter opened at the Spokane Convention Center, 334 West Spokane Falls Blvd.

For those displaced by the Fairview fire, an evacuation center has been established at Northwood Middle School, 12908 N. Pittsburg St.

For evacuations in south Stevens County, a Red Cross shelter is open at Jenkins High School, 702 E. Lincoln Ave., Chewelah.

Wishing Tree Books in Spokane’s South Perry District will be sharing information and resources on their social media as they can.

Spokane County Emergency Management has information about evacuations, including the fire evacuation map created by Spokane Regional Emergency Communications.

Everyone in the area is encouraged to sign up for alerts from Alert Spokane. The Alert Spokane page also has links for other counties’ alerts: Kootenai County, Lincoln County, Pend Oreille County, Stevens County, and Whitman County.

To monitor air quality (AQI), visit the AirNow.gov site. Reduce time outdoors when air quality is poor. When air quality is very poor, an air filter inside can help; here’s a link to directions for making one using a box fan and air filter from the hardware store.
