I went into this book with one set of expectations and came away with a story that I did not know that I needed. The story of a woman running away towards an unknown past, a prodigal son coming home a different person than when he left, a small island trapped in the past and the future full of wholly fleshed out people with stories of their own, a vibrant interloper, and love in its many different forms.
