Sutherland (author of the Wings of Fire series), Dana Simpson (author/illustrator of the Phoebe and her Unicorn series), Suzanne Selfors (author of the Wedgie and Gizmo series) LeUyen Pham (illustrator of Princess in Black series), Leslie Patricelli (author of Baby Board Books), Marissa Meyer (author of the Lunar Chronicles), Corinna Luyken (author/illustrator of The Book of Mistakes), Kazu Kibuishi (author/illustrator of the Amulet series), Varian Johnson (author of The Parker Inheritance), Dan Gemeinhart (author of The Honest Truth), Troy Cummings (author/illustrator of the Notebook of Doom series), Ben Clanton (author/illustrator of the Narwhal and Jelly series), Asia Citro (author of the Zoey and Sassafras series), and many more.
You’ll have the opportunity to meet your favorite authors and illustrators, purchase signed copies of their books (book sales courtesy of local bookstore Madison Books), participate in hands-on literacy activities and crafts, and hear several of our authors/illustrators present throughout the day. Please note that this is a rain-or-shine event!
Visit our website for more details: SeattleChildrensBookFestival.com
And what’s more? You’ll have a chance to purchase reduced price copies of any of the festival author/illustrators books for direct donation to the Seattle Public Schools that need them the most. ALSO profits from the festival book sales will go towards putting on free book fairs and outfitting classrooms with wonderful books at the Seattle schools that serve the highest poverty populations. Access to new, relevant, award-winning books should be a right, not a privilege.
A HUGE thank you to Greenwood Elementary for providing our venue, to Ben Clanton for designing our festival poster and making our website pretty, to Madison Books for helping with this HUGE project, to all the local teacher-librarians who have been helping coordinate author school visits, and to all the authors/illustrators who are volunteering their time to attend this wonderful event.
