At the same time Bellingham’s Village Books says goodbye to an outstanding long-tenured bookseller, NW Book Lovers says goodbye to one of its original contributors. Lindsey McGuirk was the questioner behind many “Conversations” columns, introducing readers to newer voices such as Nicole Georges and David Vann and checking in with old favorites: Jess Walter, Chelsea Cain, Jonathan Evison, Kim Barnes—the list goes on.
Revisit all of McGuirk’s contributions—Conversations, Face Outs, New Year greetings, etc.—as she signs off in her final edition at the helm of Village Books’ newsletter and final week of wearing her bookseller badge:
A Note from Lindsey
Eight years total, broken into two parts. Three years as the Events Coordinator, five years as the Digital Marketing Manager. Eight years at a bookstore that I love, with coworkers I adore. But the time has come for a new endeavor in my life. Next week will be my last week at Village Books. This is the job where I learned that the book industry is more than just authors, publishers and booksellers. It’s about people who learn from each other, rely on each other, who meet and fall in love, who treat everyone they meet as though they’re already family, who know how to throw a great dance party, and who step in to pick up the pieces when things fall apart.
Thanks, Lindsey. Good reading and good luck.
