Cheers to Klindt’s Booksellers and their YA enthusiast Angela Hanson for putting on a 12-author event Saturday that drew about 650 people to the small store in The Dalles. Check out the video, which was made by Gregg Olsen, one of the featured authors (with Envy).
It was the second year for Got Books? and Hanson says that it was not just “SUPER fun” but well attended and well received. “What I was told by just about every participant was how wonderful it was that Klindt’s could reach so many community members,” Hanson says. She tells us that the store’s point of sale system counted 502 transactions during the event. (!) Hanson says pre-event sales were also high, with customers bringing back the books for authors to sign.
Klindt’s treated all the attendees to free hot dogs, and BBQ was also available from local restaurant The Daily Special. A caution to other stores: “Several of the participants felt we may have spoiled them for future events and now feel they should demand a BBQ at all the signings they schedule from now on,” Hanson says.
Hanson is already planning for Got Books, III, though she says the real work won’t begin until January. She’s going to give us more details about all the authors she hosted in her upcoming Young Adult Anonymous column for NWBL.
