Mary Jane DiSanti, who has owned the Country Bookshelf in Bozeman, Montana for 36 years, sold the store on December 1 to Ariana Paliobagis, who has worked at the store for five years. Paliobagis has a masters degree in literature from Montana State University and described the purchase by saying “This is kind of like my kingdom I’ve been dreaming of since I was a child.” The full story about the store’s history, Mary Jane’s tenure, and the changes that Ariana hopes to bring are included in a feature posted by HERE in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle.

Every time I read a story like this, I feel happy, excited, and slightly jealous. How does anyone who’s had a career as a bookstore employee (a notoriously underpaid profession which most of us are in for love, not money) afford to buy their bookstore? I’d love it if someone would tell about these details.
