Congratulations to Roger and Nancy Page, owners of Island Books of Mercer Island, WA. They have been chosen as Mercer Island Citizens of the Year for 2015!
The pair has been selling books on the Island since 1973, so as their store blog explained, even though they’re not official residents, “they do spend more time on Mercer Island than most natives.” Seriously, it is spectacular to see Roger and Nancy appreciated for all they do in their community, from book fairs benefiting the local schools to free story times and author events, and even more fundraisers for community organizations like First Place School, plus their unwavering commitment to enriching the lives of Island Books’ neighbors through the love of books.
The award will be be bestowed upon them during the City Council meeting starting at 7pm on Monday, July 6th, and they’ll be celebrated with their own float during the city’s Grand Parade, which starts at 10am on Saturday, July 11th.
