From the awesome organizers of Lit Crawl Seattle…
Lit Crawl Seattle is back! Our third annual romp through Capitol and First Hills happens Thursday, October 23rd from 6pm until the squirrels go home.
This year’s lineup features more than 65 authors in 21 readings, all presenting their work free to the public, with many venues under-21 friendly. Readers take on the timely, local issues of our community with aplomb: legal pot, social justice, dysfunctional families, and the 9-5 grind. Plus, as much local lit as your tanks can hold!
Seattle’s local lit celebs and organizations are all about Lit Crawl, too. Here’s a sampling of those you know and love who are on the lineup for 2014:
- Washington State Poet Laureate, Elizabeth Austen
- Washington State Book Award winner, Peter Mountford
- Jess Walter
- Bruce Barcott
- Jonathan Evison
- Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant
- Hedgebrook
- Seattle7Writers
- Book-It Repertory Theatre
Get some sleep on Wednesday because after binging on all that good local lit, there’s a giant after-party at Hugo House where you can hobnob like a champ. $5 gets you a pint of Georgetown Brewing Company’s brewskies, music by The Drop Shadows, Poem Shop by Matthew Rowe, all the you-pay drinks you want, access to food truck nosh by Jemil’s Big Easy, and select books for sale by Elliott Bay Book Company.
Lit Crawl Seattle is powered by an all-volunteer board and more than 40 volunteers the night of the event. Last year, the event’s readings and after-party drew more than 1,500 Seattle lit lovers.
Lit Crawl is a project of Shunpike, and receives support from 4Culture. We’re founded by Litquake, San Francisco’s annual literary festival, which began in 1999. Since then, Lit Crawl has been successfully franchised to New York, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Seattle, Austin, Iowa City, Miami, and London.
