“I shirked a lot of household chores this weekend to finish The Home Place, which alone might not be a glowing review (who wants to do chores?), but it means I set aside everything for 2 whole days. I don’t do that very often! I just had to find out what really happened. The characters are all totally flawed and I appreciate that, as a flawed character myself. The family dynamics are perfectly described and the visceral ties to the family land (the home place) are enviable to someone who moved around as a kid. A delicious and atmospheric novel of Billings and Big Sky country.”
