Local authors, like New York Times bestselling author Kevin O’Brien pictured at left, are great supporters of local, independent bookstores. The great news for fans is that autographed copies are often available right on the shelf. For example, Seattle Mystery Bookshop, home to that great wall o’ Kevin shown in the picture, usually has signed copies of his oeuvre in stock (including his latest, Tell Me You’re Sorry).
I remember shipping a personalized Matt Ruff book to a New York City hotel once for a German fan. In this day and age, local, personal connections combined with the internet and international phone calls can make incredible things possible!
