Great news rang out in the bookselling world this week when Carol Santoro, owner of Santoro’s Books for 29 years, announced that she sold the brick-and-mortar bookstore in the Phinney/Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle to author Tom Nissley (A Reader’s Book of Days) and his wife Laura Silverstein (owner of Glittersweet, the local company behind the sparkly, sassy handbags). The new owners live in the neighborhood.
Nissley and Silverstein will take over the bookstore and rechristen it Phinney Books. Santoro will continue to sell books wholesale, for schools and other organizations, under the business name Santoro’s Books.
The last day with the physical bookstore named Santoro’s Books will be Saturday, May 3rd. Carol Santoro invites all booklovers to attend the farewell party. She will be giving away free Santoro’s Books t-shirts that day with purchases of $100 or more (while supplies last). Customers are encouraged to use their Santoro’s Books gift certificates and loyalty program credits before the change to Phinney Books.
We eagerly await the announcement of details about Phinney Books’ grand opening! Congratulations, PhinneyWood neighborhood, Carol, Tom, and Laura! Readers’ days of books continue.
