“I’m happy to report that my reading slump is officially over and I’ve resumed my usual gluttonous reading habits. I just finished Love & Terror on the Howling Plains of Nowhere: A Memoir by Poe Ballantine and had my socks knocked off. I’m in good company, considering that Cheryl Strayed (of Wild & Tiny Beautiful Things) wrote the intro to Poe’s In Cold Blood-esque book. Over and over again I had to reread a sentence, trying to grasp how he created something so beautiful, so vivid. He’s an unassuming man with powerful writing. Please check out his book, because he deserves recognition.”
