“If you watch any of the ‘Law and Order’ TV series, you know the name of producer, Dick Wolf. Mr. Wolf has jumped to another kind of entertainment by writing his first book in a series featuring NYPD policeman Jeremy Fisk.
The Intercept begins shortly after Navy SEALS took out Osama Bin Laden. Fisk is a member of NYPD’s elite Intelligence Division; New York City’s answer to the CIA, the NSA, the DIA and the Office of National Security. Fisk is an ex-officio member of New York’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), formed after the 9/11 attacks. Their primary focus is to prevent future attacks.
The day after the successful SEAL assignment (see the movie Zero Dark Thirty), Fisk and several other experts are sent to Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany where all of the documents, files, hard drives and computers that were seized in the raid were sent. This select group has only a couple of days to go through the material to determine if anything is currently being plotted by terrorists. Fisk and his team do uncover a plot to attack somewhere in the US within a few weeks. What they find spurs the JTTF and the Intelligence Division into action. Fisk and his partner, Krina Gersten, (also his girlfriend) are on the front line. There are plenty of red herrings as the NYPD, FBI, CIA, et al race to thwart the terrorist plot.
As you read the book, you will probably think about who would star in the movie or TV miniseries. I know I did. But I anticipate reading more in the series first.”
