Portland journalist and author David Oliver Relin, who won a 2007 Pacific Northwest Book Award as co-author of Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time, has died of suicide at 49. Relin wrote the book with mountain climber turned humanitarian Greg Mortenson, who would later come under professional and legal scrutiny for possible inaccuracies in his story and mismanaging funds of the charity he helped establish. Read more about Relin’s career and the Three Cups controversy in The Christian Science Monitor.
David Oliver Relin’s Second Suns: Two Doctors and Their Amazing Quest to Restore Sight and Save Lives will be released by Random House next June.
