Wilderness

A major addition to a small field of historically-set NW fiction, this with the additional weight of also being set in the Civil War more than 30 years earlier - specifically the battle of the Wilderness. The book alternates between the two - the vividly rendered mayhem of war, and how those wounds are psychically carried to a vastly different landscape decades later.
