Oregon Public Broadcasting has a great interview with Portland author and publisher Dan DeWeese on its website. On camera DeWeese talks about how it was easier than he’d thought it would be to break into the publishing industry. DeWeese’s Propeller Books published its debut novel, Nine Simple Patterns for Complicated Women by Mary Rechner, last fall. “There was a part of me that thought, ‘This is an advanced industry. It’s impossible to get in and it’s very complicated,'” he says “It turns out that, no, you have a book and you’re trying to sell it. It’s very simple . . . The more we did it, the more we realized that it’s just people.”
We interviewed DeWeese about his novel, You Don’t Love This Man, this winter, and we interviewed Rechner about her book last fall.
