Hanging out with Chuck Palahniuk can be fun—and potentially good for one’s career. Shelf Awareness has a chocolate Easter Bunny sweet piece on his efforts to introduce his writing group partner Lidia Yuknavitch‘s new memoir, The Chronology of Water, to indie booksellers throughout the country. The two Portland area authors packaged up boxes full of Easter treats, including a signed copy of Chronology, for which Palahniuk blurb-gushed that he’d, “…return to it for inspiration and ideas, and out of sheer admiration,” for the rest of his life.
By chance, NWBL spoke with Palahniuk during his care package project when we contacted him with a quick question about the tour plans for his October novel, Damned. He mentioned we’d caught him in the middle of packing some copies of Yuknavitch’s book to send out, totally under-representing the coolness quotient of receiving anything packed in jellybeans from Chuck Palahniuk!
After helping to turn Yuknavitch into a sensation (though he can’t come close to doing what her own writing does for her), Palahniuk hopes to have her co-host some events on his Damned tour. He just loves saying that.
Having been the recipient of a “care package” from Chuck (many years ago), I can attest to how cool he really is!
